Faulty Photoshop

Uh-oh, I didn't have any good pictures this weekend. After getting my pics taken at a mall, today I got my pictures taken at home (coming back from a long day outside, meeting up my cousin in the afternoon and a reunion with friends in the evening). And my home has a very ugly blotchy wall with bad lighting. This time I especially insisted to ditch the idea of using flash since it would ruin the appearance of my latex leggings. I am not good at photoshoping to begin with and plus I am too lazy to put more efforts to edit the picture using photoshop. It's only natural that the outcome is sooo not up to scratch, pardon me.

I've worn the latex leggings twice already and this second time around I hate them even more. They were too big for me when I bought them (it's not allowed to try on strecthy material clothes in here) and after a wash they basically enlarged. Now I am in a hunt for a new one with better fit (problem is I don't want to cough up 42 fuckin' dollar for AA leggings tho' I have to admit that they were good).

As for the top, it's another stolen item from a room mate :D

Here is what I wore today:

Saturated Frames

I hate indoor photos if they were not full-equipped studio photos. But once in a while I have no choice but taking photos in some indoor locations. Like today. I went to a dinner with a friend at a restaurant located in one of upscale malls in Jakarta. I wasn't planning to get my pictures taken actually. But my friend was like, "hey...let's take pictures for your blog". And I was like..."cool!" So, we tried to find some corner that don't have too many people around (and have a decent lighting). But still, with no flash (I hate built-in flash) the pictures came out kinda yellowish. I decided to play with photoshop a little bit and this is how the otherwise yellowish pictures turn out:

Afternoon Stroll

It's a holiday today...yay!!!!! I got up really late today, and went to the salon to get some hair treatments. Holiday also means I can get my pictures taken before the weekend *woohoo!*
The outfit I chose for today was actually a dress that I bought around a year ago but have worn it only once. I eyed this dress when I dug through my closet in an effort to find appropriate clothes for my teaching event the other day (see my previous post).

So, these pictures were taken in a small street that my friend and I spotted on our way to the movie theater. We basically have less than 10 minutes to take pictures before catching the movie. Hence I am so glad that the pictures turned out pretty good.

Embarrassing moment #1: Some girls who were walking by stop for a moment and looked at me being a model and then resumed walking while giggling.

Embarrassing moment #2: The movie I went to see was an indie event of which the audience were mostly students, and indie movie enthusiasts wearing t-shirts, jeans and sneakers. So, I kinda stood up in the crowds. They probably thought I was someone from planet X dressing up like this.

Oh well...

Apparently One Is Not Enough...

Not everyday I got the privilege of being out in the sun in early morning, as I am not a morning person. Luckily, my work as a freelancer supports my lifestyle of going to bed very late at night and sleeping in till the morning is mostly gone. But once in a while I'd take jobs that require me to get up quite early for my standard with reasons such as: a) the job pays extraordinary good money; b) i like the job. Like this morning, I was invited to speak at a private high school here in Jakarta about state violence and human rights. The thing/issues I love to do.

Doing so requires me to dress properly for the event. So I dug through my closet to find appropriate clothes to wear and found this pair of pants that I bought sometimes ago but haven't gotten around to wearing it (geez...sounds familiar!). On my way to the school, I stop by a little park close to the NGO office I work for during my stay in here. Again, I asked my friend Adrian, to take these pictures of me (not only did he take these pictures, he also drove me to the office on his way to work). Poor thing!

I was acting like a child getting a cotton candy at a night fair. Well, not everyday I got the chance to enjoy the morning sun, so I might as well enjoy it as I please, no?! :D

One Is Enough For This Week

Yeah...that's what the photographer said. He was busy all week long, including the weekend. But today, as I he was stepping out the door, I shrieked: "Let me come with you...wherever you're going," hahaha... And he was going to an exhibition for a photo assignment from work. So I came with him. Okay, I am exaggerating a bit here. He did have to go to a photo assignment and I did come with him. But I didn't shrieked and begged him to lug me wherever he goes and we actually had to go to the same place earlier. So there.

After his photo assignment, we're about to take some photos of me when the rain started to drop. Not so bad, but enough to make the photographer frown a bit. So after only few quick shots, he decided to stop. Well, I couldn't do anything but accept my bad luck for today. But as he drove the car, he cheered up again and said that we should take more photos. Found an alley and shoot shoot we did.... :D

Here are some photos of what I wore today:

Almost Black

If you notice, I only post my outfits only on the weekends. This is because I hate bad quality pictures. So the only person I can count on to take good or at least decent pictures is one of my room mates who is a photographer (and thanks to him for willing to spoil my narcissistic-self on any given weekend I ask him to haha).
Today I was thinking of putting on a bit feminine outfit, but then my mood changed. I decided to wear all black, but then again I realized that I want to wear my purple faux leather jacket. So here is what I came up with.
The super short mini skirt was given by my friend Ayufie, a Balinese belle living in Paris. What I want to show off the most is the argyle vest. I found this quality vest in a local market here in Jakarta (ITC Kuningan) for only IDR 35.000 or equivalent to USD 3.5 a pop. What a great find, isn't it! I bought two of different colors, of course!

Another thing I need to mention is that the shoes are killing me! Those are the most uncomfortable heels I have. Somehow the heels kinda pull my calve muscles. I couldn't stand relax in the shoes. You clearly see the effect on my knees haha...

Here are some pictures of what I wore today:

When I saw the result of the pictures, I realized that my poses were all the same with other pictures of mine that have ever been taken. Oh well, I am not a model. So, I guess I am excused :D

Confessions of A Shopaholic Hater

Yes, I just watched Confessions of a Shopaholic and I fuckin' hate it. I should've trusted the critiques at Rotten Tomatoes who gave this movie 22%, which was in RT rating was soooo rotten. I insisted to watch this movie hoping that at least I could entertain my eyes with abundant great fashionable items just like when I watched The Devil Wears Prada or SATC. But wrong! The items were not that many and not that great. The physical/slapstick jokes just totally failed to give me even more than two soft chuckles. And there were lots of nonsenses too. For instance, with all those branded items that Rebecca had, we're talking Gucci, Prada, Yves Saint Laurent, Louboutin here, there is no way that she only owed sixteen something thousands dollars only. And with that amount of credit card debt only, how could most of her 12 credit cards were maxed out and couldn't be used? So, it's like she only has around a thousand something dollar maximum credit line in one card? Give me a break! Oh, I can go on and on to write about all the stupidity and nonsenses of this movie. The only credit I have to give to this movie is that everything that happened to Rebecca Bloomwood really happens in real world. Lots of people get addicted to shopping and eventually get trapped into horrifying credit card debts, and they just don't know how to stop. But then again, this credit should go to Sophie Kinsella, the author of the book that the movie was based on, and not the filmmakers.

Well, this is what I wore tonight :D

This outfit I actually wore last night with only a little different on the bow necklace (I wore a yellow one) and I wore my shocking pink shoes yesterday. I wore this outfit again today so I can get my pictures taken :D

p.s.: good thing these pictures were taken before I watched the movie. Otherwise I would've frowned.

"Like Boys"

I wonder how would I look like if I wear these clothes from Comme des Garçons Fall 2009 Collection? I mean just like the way they were presented on the runway as can be seen on the pictures below (I am sure, off runway, if you pull them apart to pieces, the collection would be more wearable).
"Wonderland", that's how Rei Kawakubo described his collection, which was presented cohesively from beginning to the end. Jackets, sweaters, blanket-look alike pieces (or were they really blankets?), and flesh-colored tulle stockings (pants?) layerings dominated the collection. Argh...nuff said, what do I know about fashion? The point is, I like 'em all (but couldn't afford any, of course).

P.S.: Have a closer look at the shoes. Oh...I am drooling over them.

Yellow And Stripes

I know that the yellow pants are sooo out right now. I bought them around the end of 2007 but believe it or not this was the first time I wore them. The pants were originally way too long for me, so I thought I would get them shorten first before I wear them. Being a lazy bone that I am, I just got them taken in last week :D.

Okay, this is actually my attempt to do 1950s men's look. Slightly tapered and short pants with socks peeking out, a suspender and of course the oxford shoes and the hat. Not sure if I nailed it or if I looked like a dorky magician instead *lol*

This second picture was taken in front of an abandoned building in a yuppie neighborhood. I thought it would be cool to take a pic with this background. But seeing the result, I realized that the background was too dirty. Oh well...

Erin Fetherston At NY Fashion Week

Oh...how I love Erin Fetherston! Here are some of her collection being showcased at NY Fashion Week last February. In this collection, Fetherston, a Californian bred designer, is still being true to her style. Unique, playful, yet sexy and some were even dark (there's a little touch of goth feeling to some of the designs). I adore some of the undergarments in the collection, especially the dots stockings and gloves. Me want them!!!

Floral Stockings

I was debating with myself whether I should put this picture up my blog or not. At first I was reluctant since the picture wasn't of a good quality and the outfit was just something I threw on without even thinking. It was just something I wore to go grab a cup of Sour Sally frozen yoghurt. At the end, I decided to post this picture. This blog is for posting what I wear anyway, no?!

P.S.: The men's shirt belongs to my male room mate. I like it so much I've borrowed it twice already. He already told me to get some for myself :D

Pinking Of You!

Been sick since Friday. All my hang-out plans with my girls were canceled, which was sad. But I wasn't the kind of person who could stay at home for two days straight without getting out in the sun at all. Oh...and of course I miss my high heels. So, today, though I was still feeling kinda unwell, I forced myself to roll out of the bed, put on my rock n roll outfit with the pink high heels as the highlight of the day. I enlisted my good friend, Adrian, to take pictures of me (I owe you a glass of beer, mate. Or maybe two...).

By the way, the cut-out tights are a DIY.

Pardon me for posting so many pictures. I just can't pick one or two since all photos turned out so gooooood!

Oh, I instantly felt better once I put on everything and started to pose for the camera (I even went to a free concert at the park. Woohoo!!!)
